Donate to Preserve Oakland's History

Your generous donation to our Annual Appeal gives voice to OHA’s preservation advocacy and history teaching and learning. You are an important reason why our wealth of historic buildings and neighborhoods is matched by few other cities in California.

Soon we will all be celebrating two OHA-supported preservation accomplishments:

  • Five years after it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 1911 Beaux Arts Key System Building at 11th and Broadway also suffered heavy damage in the Loma Prieta Earthquake and was shuttered for 30 years. Today restoration of this landmark is well underway.

  • And the City Council recently gave final approval to renovation, restoration and reopening of the Oakland Civic Auditorium, another historic landmark. This cherished structure, opened in 1915, served as the major center of civic life in Oakland until in 2006 it was shuttered and left vacant until now.
